Deco Vs Deco (デコ対デコ) is Maximum the Hormone's second DVD, released by Vap on March 19, 2008 as a three-disc set of about 421 minutes. The title is a pun: デコ is a forehead, and the jacket is two shaved heads pressed brow to brow. The logo spells DVD out of Deco Vs Deco, and the third disc does the same with Dam Vs Dam. The RIAJ certified the set Gold, for shipments of 100,000 or more, and it reached number one on Oricon's weekly music DVD chart.

Disc 1: The Bu-Ikikaesu Tour Final
The first disc is the last night of the Bu-ikikaesu Tour (ぶっ生き返すツアー), filmed at Zepp Tokyo on October 12, 2007: the 56th show of a tour whose 56 dates all sold out. The whole set is here, seventeen songs from "What's Up, People?!" to "Nigire!!", with the band's talk between them, and the film ends on a staff roll over the crowd's customary post-show singalong of "Rokkinpo Goroshi". Five video clips follow the concert: "What's Up, People?!", directed by Daishin; "Koi no Mega Lover", "Zetsubō Billy" and "Bu-ikikaesu!!", directed by スミス (Smith); and "Bikini Sports Ponchin", directed by 丹下紘希 and shot new for this release.
The booklet prints the band's own English title beneath every song, and they are seldom translations: 絶望ビリー is "KILA", ROLLING1000tOON is "TSUNAMI", 上原〜FUTOSHI〜 is "BORN TO BE BONE" and the struck-through 包丁・ハサミ・カッター・ナイフ・ドス・キリ is "HONJYO ASAMI". Maximum the Ryo-kun wrote the words and music of all seventeen.
Disc 2: Off-Shot Footage and Ryo-Kun's Challenge II
The second disc holds 92 minutes of off-shot footage (ホルモンオフショット映像), picked from the videotape the band kept rolling on tour, in the studio and on music-video shoots: the case promises their bare faces, from laughs to embarrassment to the touching. Beside it is Ryo-kun's Challenge II ~Ryo-kun's Mysterious Dungeon~ (亮君の挑戦状II〜亮君の不思議なダンジョン〜), a game played through the DVD menus in the style of a retro role-playing game. It is the sequel to the challenge on the band's first DVD, Debu Vs Debu, and it hides treasure videos behind Maximum the Ryo-kun's deliberately tiresome puzzles; the band's site counts four. They are Ue-chan singing "Tatari-kun" to an acoustic guitar, Nao-chan performing "Zetsubō Billy" on her own without make-up, Daisuke-han's "shocking work" "Hato" from a 2001 live MC, and Ryo-kun in a secret interview as an obi maniac, going through the obi strips of his CDs. Ue-Chang, credited under his own name, 上原太, programmed its 8-bit music from "Black ¥ Power G-Men Spy" and "Louisiana Bob".
Disc 3: Dam Vs Dam
The third disc, Dam Vs Dam (ダム対ダム), travels in a case of its own inside the slipcase. Its main film is the 110-minute documentary Jigoku Ezu (地獄絵図), on four editions of the band's event of that name, each open to a single kind of audience: heavy men (February 25, 2006), women without make-up (February 26, 2006), and skinny men and the over-thirties, one after the other (April 29, 2007). The case promises songs the band never plays at an ordinary show, and on-screen captions name them as they come, "Abara Bob" three times in a row among them. Seventy-five minutes of selected live footage follow: the revival show added to the Bu-ikikaesu Tour, at Studio Coast on October 17, 2007, five days after the final; the Koi no Mega Lover Tour final at Shibuya AX on September 29, 2006; and the first release of Vitamin 7, the band's unit with 10-FEET, from the Darts Tour final at Shibuya O-East on June 19, 2006. Parts were shot on home video cameras, and the case warns that picture and sound break up in places. The obi lists one more item only as "???": the ordeal at the opening, as the band's site calls it. Every time the disc is played it runs a four-and-a-half-minute film before the menu, with fast-forward, skip and stop locked out: the band's solemn pilgrimage to "the dream venue they have aimed for since the band formed", which is a dam, while a ticker warns that fast-forwarding through it is prohibited by law. A hidden page on the disc, a "dam spirit" visible only to people with dirty hearts, gives away the way out: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right on the remote during the Vap logo. The jacket pairs two dams that the packaging never names, the Kurobe Dam above and the Sameura Dam below.
Credits and Packaging
Daishin of GOIS directed the video, with Tetsushi Suehiro of GOIS as line producer and Kazunari Sengoku of 33cjl and Kentaro Tanaka of VAP as producers; Tadashi Aoki was director of photography over eleven cameramen. 梁取慎一 of TAMCO recorded the show, 片岡恭久 mixed it at ZAK STUDIO and GREENBIRD STUDIO, and it was mastered at parasight mastering. Maximum the Ryo-kun planned the set and directed its design, with art direction by Kenji Kiyama of PERMANENT. The guests on screen include 10-FEET, POLYSICS and ELLEGARDEN, and the booklet lists all 28 bands that shared bills on the tour.
This copy is the original Japanese edition, issued by VAP as VPBQ-19050 at ¥4,890 including tax. A clear slipcase holds two cases, one for discs 1 and 2 (231 minutes) and one for Dam Vs Dam (190 minutes). All three discs are single-sided and dual-layer, NTSC, region 2: disc 1 and the Dam Vs Dam live footage are 16:9 letterboxed, disc 2 and the documentary 4:3, and the sound is linear PCM stereo except the live footage on disc 3, which is Dolby Digital. The booklet carries the title and disc 1's list on page 1, the lyrics of all seventeen songs, photographs of two models in wrestling tights, and the credits on its back cover. A loose slip, "Please read this first", has five joke warnings from the band: among them, not to watch it all in one day, and not to ask online how to beat Ryo-kun's Challenge.
