On July 23, 2005 Manowar headlined Earthshaker Fest at the Autohof Strohofer in Geiselwind, Germany, closing the first MANOWAR Mega Fan Convention - three days the slipcase says drew fans "from countries across the globe". The set ended with past and present members on stage together, and carried an orchestral segment scored for a Czech orchestra and two choirs. This two-DVD release is that night plus four hours of material around it, issued by Magic Circle Music in November 2006 and distributed by SPV.
The title is not two disc names. The full phrase The Day The Earth Shook – The Absolute Power Of MANOWAR names the documentary on disc 2; disc 1's own feature is headed simply MAIN PROGRAM on the jacket.
Two catalogue numbers, and they are not interchangeable. The slipcase, its spine and the inner jacket all print SPV 85657 2DVD, which is SPV's distributor number; both disc faces print MCA 01187-8, which is Magic Circle Music's own and the only one Discogs and metal-archives index the release under. A record keyed on the SPV string alone resolves to a Russian bootleg - measured, not feared.
Who played what, past and present. Discogs' PAL entry for the same release (r3072064) credits the reunion guests per song where the NTSC entry does not, and it lines up with the jacket's two "era introduction" chapters: Rhino (drums) and David Shankle (guitar) on Metal Warriors and The Glory of Achilles, after the Triumph Of Steel Era Introduction; Donnie Hamzik (drums) and Ross The Boss (guitar) on Metal Daze and Dark Avenger, after the Battle Hymns Era Introduction; and all four together on Battle Hymn.
