Overview
Ikedaya was established in 1987. Its predecessor was “Toyo Video”, founded by Totsu Co., Ltd., which was later divided into NST (then News Staff Totsu) and Ikedaya. As a result of this connection, the company includes technical personnel with experience from the former TBS program The Best Ten. It was also widely known for owning a distinctive outside broadcast vehicle, painted entirely dark navy blue with its trade name written in pink brush script, resembling those used by right-wing propaganda groups.
The company is also known for actively manufacturing equipment used in its operations in-house, including lighting equipment and Clear-Com intercom systems.
The trade name “Ikedaya” was coined by Yasushi Akimoto, while the brush-script lettering was written by the father of company president Harumichi Ikeda.
