Galneryus - VETELGYUS

VETELGYUS is the ninth studio album by Galneryus, and this is its limited first edition: the album on CD with a live Blu-ray, released by Vap on September 24, 2014 as VPCC-80669. The title is Betelgeuse, the bright star in Orion, spelt with a V. The standard edition, VPCC-81813, was the CD alone, with a poster.

The CD has twelve tracks, three of them instrumentals: "Redstar Rising" opens it, the title track sits at seven and "The Voyage" closes it. Syu wrote the music for all but two, YUHKI's "Enemy to Injustice" and "Secret Love", and the lyrics are by SHO, TAKA and Syu. Hitomi Orima sings the female vocal on "Enemy to Injustice", "Vetelgyus" and "The Guide". The booklet credits the line-up as Syu (guitar), SHO (vocal), TAKA (bass), Jun-ichi (drums) and YUHKI (keyboards, Hammond organ), with Yorimasa Hisatake producing and arranging every song with the band. Naoki Sakurai of MIT STUDIO engineered and mixed it, at innig recording hostelry, Sugar Studio, Heart Beat Recording Studio and STUDIO em POINT, mixing at STUDIO em POINT and Sound Studio Ritz, and Hiromichi "Tucky" Takiguchi mastered it at parasight mastering.

The Blu-ray is Live At Zepp Tokyo, eleven songs from Zepp Tokyo on April 27, 2014, the final night of the "WELCOME TO OUR EVOLVING IRONHEART !" TOUR 2014, five months before the album. Only its opener is on the record: "The Judgement Day" was one of two songs, with "Can't Live Without You", that the band had given away in 2013 on a not-for-sale CD handed out on that year's tour, and the album carries it re-recorded as "THE JUDGEMENT DAY (VETELGYUS MIX)". The rest is back catalogue, with an extended "Bash Out!" at its centre. The encores are not on this disc; three songs from them came out that December on the limited Blu-ray of the "Attitude to Life" single.

The set comes in a clear outer sleeve printed with line art, over a case whose spine reads CD+BluRay and ¥3,800 before tax. The CD's label carries the standard edition's number, 81813, beside its own, and the Blu-ray has its own, VPXC-80669B. There is no region mark; the package and the Blu-ray say they are for sale only in Japan. The 16-page CD booklet holds the tracklist, the lyrics, a landscape spread, the credits and the band's thanks. With them comes a photo book, Running Through The World With The Ironhearted Flag Vol.1, from the band's first European tour, that July.
