Overview

After the rights were transferred to Masayoshi Takayama in 1983 and the company was incorporated, it planned and operated concerts and other events held in the Tokyo metropolitan area and six Kanto prefectures, as well as Yamanashi and Fukushima prefectures. It maintained a branch office in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture; the head office handled concerts in southern Kanto and Yamanashi, while the Utsunomiya branch handled those in the three prefectures of northern Kanto and Fukushima. The Utsunomiya branch operated its own ticket outlet under the name Flip Side Utsunomiya (フリップサイド宇都宮).

For many years, it was responsible for planning and producing the Kanto performances of tours by Miyuki Nakajima, Chiharu Matsuyama, Shogo Hamada, THE ALFEE, TUBE, and others, and had earned strong trust from major bands and singers. Its paid membership organization, SOUND MEMBERS, which offered benefits such as advance ticket reservations, once had approximately 6,000 members, mainly young people in their late teens to early twenties. In the fiscal year ending March 2001, it recorded its highest-ever annual sales of ¥4.84646 billion, and was at one time regarded as a leading company in this field. Thereafter, amid technological innovations such as online music distribution and drastic changes in the market environment, Flip Side's ability to attract audiences declined significantly. As concerts it planned itself continued to perform poorly, its business results followed a downward trend.
