Company Overview
Ayumi Ito, the former wife of Takayuki Suzui, currently serves as Representative Director and President, while Suzui, the company’s first president, serves as Chairman of the Board.
The company name, “CUE” (キュー), conveys the meaning of “giving a cue to Hokkaido’s entertainment industry.” Takayuki Suzui’s company motto is “Be multi-talented.” This stems from the need in Hokkaido to work as multi-talented performers, including radio personalities, reporters, variety entertainers, and stage actors.
The company was initially established as the personal agency of the OOPARTS theatre troupe, led by Takayuki Suzui and completely dissolved in 1998. In 1997, it was newly established as a talent agency representing talents other than Suzui and members of the OOPARTS troupe.
The agency represents talents such as Yo Oizumi and Ken Yasuda, whose character traits rival those of comedians. Oizumi has described it as a “comedy agency,” a description also acknowledged by Chairman Takayuki Suzui. In fact, in addition to talents and actors, it also represents the comedy duo Oklahoma.
Oizumi has said of the former Suzuki couple, “In Hokkaido, where the culture of talent performers had not taken root, I have been able to continue thanks to the president and vice president. I respect them and am grateful to them.”
