As the Bushiroad Group’s subsidiaries operated businesses including animation, social games, and professional wrestling, all of which were closely connected with music, the establishment of a subsidiary specializing in the music business was planned. As a result, Hibiki Music Co., Ltd. (株式会社響ミュージック) was established in October 2012, with Masami Genda appointed as its first president.
Upon its establishment, in addition to commencing a new music business, it succeeded through an absorption-type company split to the Internet radio, event, and character goods businesses of Hibiki Co., Ltd. (株式会社響; now Bushiroad Media Co., Ltd.).
On August 1, 2014, it changed its corporate name to Bushiroad Music Inc.
On May 1, 2015, the talent division “Hibiki”, including the operation of the Milky Holmes official fan club Holmes Detective Academy (ホームズ探偵学院), was transferred from Bushiroad Media.
On September 29, 2016, Hibiki Co., Ltd. (second generation; later Bushiroad Move) was established, and the Internet radio business and talent division bearing the “Hibiki” brand name were transferred to it, although operation of Holmes Detective Academy was not included in the transfer.
From June 30, 2017 onward, following the renewal of Bushiroad’s corporate logo, Bushiroad Music’s corporate logo was also gradually changed. The new corporate logo features the red “B” mark of Bushiroad’s new corporate logo in sky blue, with “MUSIC” added beneath it.
On August 1, 2017, operation of Holmes Detective Academy was transferred to Hibiki.
On October 20, 2017, Takaaki Kidani, founder and representative of the Bushiroad Group, resigned as president of Bushiroad in order to take command of content development within the group, while remaining with the company as a director, head of the Digital Content Division, and head of the Public Relations and Advertising Department. He then became president and representative director of Bushiroad Music, later becoming chairman of the board on February 1, 2020.
Effective November 1, 2017, the mail-order website Bushiroad EC SHOP (ブシロード EC SHOP), along with the goods business, was transferred to Bushiroad.
Effective April 1, 2020, the music copyright business was separated through an incorporation-type company split, establishing the new company Bushiroad Music Publishing Inc. At the same time, its shares were transferred from Bushiroad Music, making it a subsidiary directly under Bushiroad itself; it is scheduled to be absorbed through a merger effective January 1, 2025.
On November 8, 2021, it acquired Ueno Gakuen Ishibashi Memorial Hall, which was renovated and began operations on March 26, 2022 as Hikkosen Theater, operated by the Bushiroad Group’s Hikkosen Theatre Company Inc. (株式会社劇団飛行船).
On July 1, 2024, Argonavis Inc., a specialized company operating the From ARGONAVIS intellectual property, which had been spun off in February 2022 through a joint new establishment with Bushiroad, was absorbed through a merger in order to improve operational efficiency.
